This cathedral was made in Christchurch,New Zealand. It was opened in August 2013 where the cathedral is now and is where the old St John's use to be. the history of this cathedral is that the people that made it had to pay $240.000 dollars to make the cathedral. the Purpose of the cardboard cathedral is the old one broke and so did st john's both in the earthquake so they built the cardboard cathedral but it is gust temporary util the new one is built.

  1. Hi Rowan,

Ruby here from the Summer Learning Journey team. It's great to see you have made a start on week 2's activities!

Great choice in cathedral! This cathedral is beautiful in a way that it helps to unify the people who used the cathedrals that were destroyed during the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes. Do you know how long it took them to build this cathedral?

I wonder what is happening with the main cathedral in Christchurch. There have been many debates since the earthquakes about whether to knock it down or rebuild it. Do you know what they're planning on doing?

I look forward to reading more of your blog over the summer.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.
